Tanbo

The tanbo is game a created by Mark Steere.

Rules

  1. The Tanbo requires a go board with size 19 * 19
  2. Initally each player has 8 stones on the board:

  3. Black makes the first move
  4. With each move the player add one stone to the board.
  5. A newly added stone must "connected" to exactly one stone of the same color. Two points "connected" if they are horizontally or vertically adjacent. Diagonally adjacent points do not connected.
  6. Player are not allowed to pass
  7. By adding stones the players form "roots": group of interconnected stones of the same color.
  8. When a player makes a move he connects new stone to only one of his rotot. This root increases in size by obe abd is referred as the "expanded root"
  9. The root becomes "bounded" when a move is made complerely deprives that root space to grow.
  10. When a player make a move which expands and bounds one of the player's roots, the player must immediatly remove this root from the board.
  11. When a player make a move which expands and bounds one of the player's roots and simultaneously bounds one or more additional roots , the player must immediatly remove the expanded root from the board.
  12. When a player bounds one of the player's roots but not expended root the player must immediatly remove all bounded roots from the board
