Breakthrough was the winner of the 2001 8x8 Game Design Competition, sponsored by About Board Games, Abstract Games Magazine and the Strategy Gaming Society. Google

Initial Board Setup:

Each player has two rows on opposite sides of the board.

Goal:

Win by moving one piece to the opposite side. Draws are impossible.

Move:

Pieces move one space forward or diagonally forward, and capture diagonally forward.
